The German Sustainability Code (DNK) supports companies in introducing sustainability strategies and serves as a framework for reporting, especially for small and medium-sized companies. Over 1,000 companies already use the DNK database to create reports and make progress transparent. The DNK is free and therefore offers companies with limited resources a practical solution and thus promotes a more sustainable economy.
The challenge
Making a complex topic accessible
Our task was to present the DNK’s new reporting platform, which we are currently programming, in a short video that is suitable for use on the Internet and in social media. The video should highlight not only the platform itself, but also its advantages and benefits. It was particularly important to present complex sustainability reporting content – including the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) – in an understandable and compact manner.
The challenges lay not only in the reduction to essential content, but also in the tight time frame. Our goal was to develop an easy-to-follow storyline with a modern look that clearly sums up the functionality of the platform.
Our solution
An explanatory video that informs and inspires
In order to meet the customer’s requirements, we developed an animated explanatory video in German and English. The storyline revolves around a protagonist who uses the DNK platform to create the sustainability report for her medium-sized company. This concept made the platform tangible and demonstrated its practical use.
Based on a storyboard developed by us and clearly structured speaker texts, we designed an abstracted user interface and individually created vector illustrations – including character design. A newly designed intro and outro with an animated logo sequence creates a recognition value for all future DNK videos.
